I still remember the day Joseph Pujol, the music hall performer better known as “Le Petomane”, paid a visit to my elementary school. He explained in this engaging manner how as a child he learned how to trap air within his body, and then expel it with the utmost precision. He then performed several tricks demonstrating the extent of his highly unusual ability - extinguishing a candle from a distance of a foot, smoking a cigarette, and playing a number of sea shanties on a sailor’s horn-pipe specially modified for the occasion. We were spellbound, and I know for a fact several classmates, inspired by that unique demonstration, went on to pursue their own careers in Vaudeville and on the local carney circuit. Happy days!
I mention this because I can do the same thing. No, no, not blow air from my nether regions on command! But I can pay a visit to your school (or library, or bookstore) and do an educational and interesting presentation about such varied topics as Greek mythology or how a book is put together. I can handle multiple classrooms and large assemblies; I can also, under certain circumstances, appear with David Slavin, the author of the delightful middle grade series I am currently in the process of illustrating, Odd Gods. Has your interest been piqued? Please do reach out via the contact form found here. Thank you!
